All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/tn/tnfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Robin Marshall robin_marshall@urscorp.com November 27, 2007, 3:01 pm Source: Microfilm Written: 1854 JOSEPH JONES Will This is the last will and testament of me JOSEPH JONES of Blount County and State of Tennessee being of sound mind and understanding which will I make as follows viz First I direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses out of any moneys that I may die possessed of or may first come into the hands of my executors as soon as possible after my death I give and bequeath to my beloved wife ELIZABETH one hundred dollars out of any moneys that may be on hand or out of my movable estate of her own proper use and benefit forever Thirdly I give and bequeath to my son JOHNATHAN all my interest in a farm purchased from JAMES MATHEWS valued at one hundred and seventy five dollars which is to go to him for that amount out of my estate and if there is not enough of my estate of reach of my children to have that amount it is my will that he pay back into my estate so that they may be made equal Fourthly I give and bequeath to my son JOHN a parcel of land lying the Hickory Valley containing 46 acres more or less beginning at a stake on GEORGE GRIFFITS fence thence with the same south 59 west 24 6/10 chains to a stake my corner thence north 32 west 23 chains to a small black oak north 59 east 16 chains to a stake on a line of JOHNATHAN JONES thence with the same south 32 east 33 chains to the beginning I also give to my son JOHN a tract of land where he now lives containing 5 ½ acres more or less beginning at a hickory south 32 east 18 ½ chains to a stake south 53 west 12 chains to the beginning with all the aforesaid prices to gather value at three hundred dollars which is to go to him for that amount of my estate and if there is not enough of my estate for each of my children to have that amount it is my will that he pay back into my estate so that they may be made all equal Fifthly I give and bequeath to my beloved wife ELIZABETH all my house hold and kitchen furniture during natural life also it is my will that my wife shall have a good and sufficient support off of the balance of my land during her natural I then give and allow to the Society of Friends the lot of land that Hickory Valley Meeting House stands on sufficient for the accommodation of friends for the purpose of holding a meeting as long as friends may use it for a meeting house I then direct that my estate be equally divided amongst all my children namely CHARITY JOHNATHAN SUSANNA ELIZABETH MARY JOHN and REBECCA but ELIZABETH’S share I direct to be equally divided between herself and her three children namely JOSEPH W MARY E and JANE M OBRIENT so that each have an equal share with their mother I then appoint and constitute my sons JONATHAN JONES and JOHN D. JONES my executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills made by me this seventy day of the eight months 1854.
