Duggan of Co. E 6th Tennessee Infantry: Personally came before me, in and for aforesaid county and state, Robert C. Duggan, aged 53 years, a citizen of the town of Arno, County of Douglas, State of Missouri, well known to me to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who, being duly sworn, declare in relation to aforesaid case, as follows: That he is the claimant in the above claim and that he served in the War of the Rebellion in Co. E, 6th Tennessee Infantry more than 90 days and was honorably discharged; that while in service and line of duty at or near Cumberland Gap, KY, in 1862, he contracted chronic diarrhea and piles from exposure, and that he still suffers from same, and he makes this affidavit for the purpose of amending his old law, and his new law, declaration for pension so as to allege chronic diarrhea and resulting piles. State of Missouri, County of Douglas: In the matter of pension claim of Robert C. Duggan of Co E, 6th Regiment Tenn Infantry volunteers; Personally came before me, a Notary Public in and for aforesaid County and State, J. D. Clinkingbeard, aged 46 years and Joseph Haynes, ages 53 years citizens of the town of Arno, County of Douglas, State of Missouri, well known to me to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who being duly sworn, declare in relation to aforesaid case as follows: We are well aquainted with above named claimant having known him for about twenty-three years. Our first acquaintance with him was in Sept 1870 at which time he was confined to his bed complaining of jaundice and fever and also diarrhea and at this time he was given up to die and we thought he would die. Since that time he has had several fever attacks of each of the above disabilities, more often with diarrhea than any one of them, having seen him troubled with the above often since our first aquaintance with him. The above facts are gained from personal observation having been with him and waited on him during his times of illness and living near him and heard him complain of these troubles, when he was in common health for him. State of Tennessee, County of Bradley: Personally came before me, a clerk of court in and for aforesaid County and State, John McClure, aged 66 years citizen of the town of Felkner, County of Bradley, State of Tennessee, well known to me to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who being duly sworn, declare in relation to aforesaid case, as follows: In August 1862, mee and R.C. Dugan wase boath in the hospitle at Cumberland Gap neare Cane tuckey line in September 1862 wee had to fall bac to Ohio. Mee amd R.C. Dugan wase still in the hospitle. Wee wase not able to march with the Rigment and pack armes so the dr turnd us loos and toald us to make oure esscaoe if wee cood. Wee go to Ohio it wase some time after wee got there beefore R.C. Dugan wase able to doe duty in the Rigment. Mee and R.C. Dugan beelong to the saime compney. I have no intrust in the prosecution of this claim whatevre. John McClure State of Tennessee, County of Bradley: In the matter of Robert C. Duggan, Co E, 6th Regiment, Tennessee Infantry: On this 18th day of Oct, A.D. 1893, personally appeared before me, Notary Public in and for the aforesaid county, duly authorized to administer oaths, T.M. Good, aged 51 a resident of Chatata, in the County of Bradley, in the State of Tennessee whose Post Office address is Chatata, Tennessee, well known to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who being duly sworn, declared in relation to the aforesaid case as follows: This is to certify that I was a private soldier in Co. E., 6th Regiment Tennessee Infantry, and that I remember that Robert C. Duggan a corporal of Co. E. 6th TN Inf was taken sick at Pine Mountain in KY near Cumberland Ford with what I call yellow jaundice and disease of the liver and had to be sent to the hospital for treatment at Pine Mountain and was in hospital at Cumberland Gap where he was treated for jaundice, disease of liver, and bowel trouble and piles. I remember distinctly that he was not able for duty for a long time, was the poorest person I nearly ever saw on foot. He could not scarcely walk. I remember that he complained of piles lots of the time while in the army. At times he would get so he could do light guard duty, but could not march or do heavy duty. I know that he never recovered from the said diseases while he was a soldier in said Co. E, 6th Tenn Infantry. I further declare I have no interest in said case and am not concerned in it's prosecution. T.M. Gaolb State of Tennessee, County of Roane: In the matter of pension claim of Robert C. Duggan, late of Co. E., 6th Tenn Inf: Personally came before me, a justice of the peace in and for aforsaid County of Roane and State of Tennessee Maggie M. Reaves, aged 49 years and L.M. McCulley, aged 40 years citizens of the town of Kingston, County of Roane, State of Tennessee, well known to me to be reputable and entitled to credit, and who, being duly sworn, declare in relation to aforesaid case, as follows: We are well aquainted with above claimant having known him ever since his discharge from above naed service and was intimately aquainted with him from his discharge to 1870 when we moved apart. During the time we was aquainted with him he was troubled with jaundice and fever also chronic diarrhea and piles and was troubled with these disabilities as to render him almost totally unable to perform manual labor. The above facts and going by personal observation having been with and intimately aquainted with claimant during date named, that is from his discharge until 1870, and we further state. "This affidavit was prepared in our presence from oral statements made by us to J.B. Peterman at Kingston, Tenn. on the 9th day of May 1894 and not form any memorandum not hereto attaching." State of Tennessee, County of Bradley: On this 28th day of November A.D. 1893 personally appeared before me a Notary Public in and for the aforesaid County , duly authorized to administer oaths, Joseph G. Felkner aged 67 years, a resident of Chatata in the County of Bradley in the State of Tennessee who being duly sworn according to law, state tha he is aquainted with Robert C. Duggan applicant for Invalid Pension and know the said Robert C. Duggan to be the identical person of that name who enlisted or volunteered as a private in Company E Regiment of Tennessee Infantry Vols., and discharged at Nashville, Tennessee on or about the 27th day of April, 1865 by reason of expiration of term of service. That the said Robert C. Duggan while in the line of his duty, at or near Cumberland Gap in the State of Tennessee, did become disabled in the following manner, viz: He contracted diseased jaundice sometime during summer of 1862. I also remember that he contracted fever at Cumberland Gap, KY., summer or fall 1862. I also remember that he contracted diarrhea at Camp Pine Knot, KY spring or summer 1862 before we moved to Cumberland Gap. I distinctly remember his case because I messed with him and waited on him while he was sick at said places. I remember that he was treated in the Regimental Hospital for his sickness by the Doctors of Regiment. That the facts stated are personally known to the affiant by reason of nursing and waiting on the soldier at Cumberland Gap while the doctors was treating him for the above diseases. I remember that he did not fully recover while he was in the service. I further certify that I dictated this my testimony orally to W. F. Duncan of Chatata, TN who wrote my testimony in my presence at his office Nov 28th, 1893. And that I had no written or printed instructions attached by which to enable me to testify in the case and that no one aided me either by written or printed instruciton or orally how to testify in this case. And that what I have stated and what is written in this my testimony the facts in this case to which I have signed my name at the time testimony was drawn and sworn to. And deponent further state that he is well aquainted with the claimant, having known him for at least 30 or 40 years and further, that the knowledge of the facts above stated are derived from said aquaintance, and from having served as private of Comapony E of the 6th Regiment of Tennessee Infantry Volunteers, from the 10th day of April 1862 to the 27th day of April 1865. And deponent further starte that the claimant ws a sound and able-bodied man at and prior to enlistment, so far as he knew, and that he is totally disinterested in this claim Joseph G.
