Adams, who prosecutes for REUBEN SMIDDY) the people pf the State and the Defendant having heard the bill of the indictment read, because he will not contend, said he is guilty in manner and form as charged in said Bill and puts himself upon the grace and mercy of the court. Therefore it is ordered by the court that for such his offense he be fined One Dollar and pay the costs of this prosecution, and may be taken so. Whereupon Jacob Shootman cam into open court & acknowledged of said defendant would not pay said fine and costs he would do it for him. Ordered by the court that Joseph Thomas be released from supporting a bastard child begotten by him on the body of Elliner Southfield and that Thomas Griffith be appointed guardian to said child, who entered into bond &c.
