Death of Vena Norman

Leaves Host of Relatives, 

Friends and Neighbors Who 

Morn Their Loss.

 

The entire community was shocked and made sad last Thursday morning when news 

was received that Mrs. Norman had died in a hospital in Knoxville, where she 

was carried for an operation. She had been declining health for some months but 

it had been hoped that she would recover. Mrs. Norman was born in Anderson 

county, Tenn., July 25, 1876. Before her marriage she was Miss Vena Goins. She, 

with her family mover to LaFollette about ten years ago where by her industry 

and friendliness she has made a host of friends who mourn her loss. She is 

survived by three brothers: Mrs. C. Goins of Caryville, Messars. Abe and John 

of LaFollette, and three sisters, Mrs. Sallie Lumpkins, Mrs. Harvey Berry, and 

Mrs. M. Martian, all of LaFollette, and by three daughters, Mrs. Roscoe Robbins 

of Peabody and Hazel and Ina Mae and six sons, Clarence, Oscar, Earl, James, 

Doyle, and Joseph of LaFollette. The funeral was conducted from the Baptist 

Church and her remains interred in the LaFollette Cemetery. The large floral 

tribute is a measure of the esteem in which she was held in LaFollette. In her 

going LaFollette loses a consecrated mother, and a good neighbor. To the 

bereaved ones we would say "God doeth all things well and it is yours to look 

to Him for comfort and counsel in this sad season.
