Ward died 1854 in Cannon Co, TN, at age 91. Ward's estate was probated 1854 in Cannon Co, TN. Ward Barrett's will, written in 1842, was brought to probate by his son-in-law in January, 1854, in Cannon County. Calling himself Ward Barrett Sr., he wrote, "For the consideration of the love and affection that I have toward my son in law Allen Morgan and his family it is my will that after my Death and that of my wife) and I bequeath unto him ... my tract of land whereon him and we now live containing Two hundred acres and is the same land that Hamen Barrett bought of one John Travis and the said Travis deeded to me." He willed that one horse, "Brute", be sold and the proceeds divided among all of his sons. After the death of his wife, his household furnishings were to be divided between his two daughters, Molly Young and Selva Morgan.
