Melton being of sound mind and disposing memory and desiring to make such disposition of my worldly goods as seemeth to me right. And proper to make and publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all other wills heretofore made by me. 1st - I desire all my just debts and funeral expenses to be paid out of the first money that comes in to the hands of my executors and a suitable monument erected over my grave. 2nd - I give to my beloved wife all the property she brought to my house when we were married and in addition one thousand dollars in accordance with our marriage contract and in addition to that I give her my horse and buggy and one years provision, corn, meat, wheat and others provison to do her twelve months after my death out of my estate- 3rd - I have deeded lands to my two sons, James B. Melton and John N. Melton which I value equally - I have also purchased of George Hancock Twelve hundred and sevety eight dollars worth of land for his children. Vera and Christopher C. Hancock and Christopher C. Hancock now being dead I want Vera Hancock to have said land her life time and if she die without any heirs to return back to me or my estate. 4th - I give to my daughter Eliza Grizzle, wife of Wm Grizzle $5000, twenty five hundred dollars to be paid when I die that is as soon as my executors collect __ and twenty five hundred dollars to be paid in two years after my death. After my executors collect my notes and put it in the bank to draw 4% interest for 2 years and if said Wm Grizzle should owe me anything at his death it to be counted out of the 1st twenty five hundred dollars. 5th - I give my daughter Nancy Jane Hollansworth $5000, twenty five hundred dollars to be paid when I die that is as soon as my executors collect __ and twenty five hundred dollars to be paid in two years after my death. After my executors collect my notes and put it in the bank to draw 4% interest for 2 years and if F.N. Hollansworth should owe me anything at his death it to be counted out of the 1st twenty five hundred dollars. 6th - I give to my grand daughter, Vera Yeargin if she is living when my estate is wound up to have $400 and if she should happen to be dead, then nothing. The four hundred dollars to go with the remainder of my estate – 7th - I want Eula Mitchell as we have raised her to have fifty dollars and one bed of my beds and bed clothing aftter my death. The remainder of my estate I give to my sons James B. and John N. Melton – 8th - If any of my legatees contest this will the amount given said legatees is to go to my other legatees or dividsees. 9th - I nominate and appoint James B. and John N. Melton my executors without bond to carry out this my will - I want my bank sotck to remain said bank five years after my death. Marth the 8th 1906 G.G.
