This Indenture made this 21st day of February in the year of Our Lord one
thousand eight hundred & twenty three Between James Adams of the County of
Pendleton & State of South Carolina on the one part & Samuel Woods of the County
of Carroll and State of Tennessee of the other part Witnesseth that the said
James Adams for and in Consideration of the sum of two hundred & eighty dollars
to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained
sold aliened and conveyed a quit claim unto the said Samuel Woods of all the
right title & interest of a Certain tract or parcel of land held by Virtue of
Entry No. 840 Dated the 24th of July 1821 founded on Certificate Warrant No.
1775 issued by the Commissioners of West Tennessee for 453 acres.  To have and
[pg 33] to hold the said 453 acres of land and the said Samuel Woods his heirs
and assigns forever the said James Adams will warrant and forever defend Against
the lawful claim or claims of any person or persons whatsoever derived from or
through him in testimony whereof the said James Adams hath hereunto set his hand
and affixed his seal the day and year above written

deposeth and saith that he was present and did
see James Adams sign seal and acknowledge
as his Act and did deliver the written instrument 
of writing for the use entirely and purposes therein set		
fourth and ? and that the within Nathaniel
Adams and Aaran Winfey did subscribe their
name as Witnesses to the due execution of the same
Sworn to & subscribed this 21st day of February 1823.
