This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Jenny Penick Garner ==================================================================== Carroll County Deeds, Grantor: Edward Gwin Book C, Page 98 Grantee: James Rogers Date: 29 Dec 1832 Land: 12 Dis; 50 AC This Indenture made and entered into this 29th day of December A.D. 1832 between Edward Gwin of the county of Carroll & State of Tennessee of the one part & James Rogers of the County & State aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the said Edward Gwin for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath and by these presents doth give grant bargain sell alien convey and confirm unto the said James Rogers his heirs & assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land situated in the County of Carroll in the state of Tennessee in the 12th surveyors District. Beginning at the south East corner of a fifty acre survey deeded by Edward Gwin to Philip May on a small red oak with a post oak & red oak pointers thence East seventy poles to a stake with two red oak pointers, thence north one hundred & fifteen poles to a red oak with post oak pointers, thence West Seventy poles to a red oak & red oak pointers thence South one hundred & fifteen poles to the begining contai-ning fifty acres & fifty poles being part of a 640 acre tract deeded to Edwd. Gwin To have and to hold the aforesaid land with all and singular the rights profits emoluments hereditaments and appurtenances of in & to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining to the only proper use benefit & behoof of him the said James Rogers his heirs & assigns for ever & the said Edward Gwin for himself his heirs executors & administrator do covenant and agree to & with the said James Rogers that the before recited & bargained premises he will warrant & forever defend against the rights title Interest or claim of all and every other person or persons whatever. In witness whereof the Said Edward Gwin sets his hand and affixes his seal the day and date above written - Signed sealed & delivered in presence of Edward Gwin State of Tennessee Carroll County Court June Session 1833 the within deed from Edward Gwin to James Rogers for fifty acres of land was this day produced in open Court and the Execution thereof duly acknowledged by sd Gwin to be his act & deed & ordered to be recorded & state tax paid to me.
