Woods Date: 6 July 1846 Land: I Edward Gwin of the County of Carroll and State of Tennessee have this day bargained and sold and do now convey unto Citizen S. Woods of said county and state a certain tract of land containing one hundred acres situated South & near the town of Huntingdon Carroll County & State of Tennessee on Beaver Creek a branch of Obion River and bounded as follows To wit Beginning near the low grounds of Briar Creek a fork of Beaver Creek being the South West corner of John Buttens part of a 5000 acre tract on which the Town of Huntingdon is situated and known in the division of said tract as lot No One for 1300 acres Running thence East seventy two poles to a Black Gum with Black gum ash & elm pointers Thence North crossing Brier Creek two hundred and twenty four poles to a hickory and and maple with pointers Standing on the Bank of Beaver Creek Thence down the center of said Creek as it meanders in a westward direction but on a straight line only seventy two poles to a beech on the bank of said Creek being the most westward northwest corner of Buttens said 1300 acre tract Thence south crossing brier creek at one hundred and forty five poles in all two hundred & twenty seven poles to the beginning. For and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and fifty Dollars in hand paid by the said Citizen S. Woods to the said Edward Gwin in receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and the said doth covenant with the said Woods first that he is lawfully seized of said land secondly that he has a good right to sell said land & bargained premises and thirdly that the same is un-incumbered and that the said Gwin will forever warrant and defend the title of the said land to the said Citizen S. Woods his heirs and assigns for ever against himself his heirs and other persons whatsoever in testimony whereof the said Edward Gwin hath set his hand and affixed his seal this the 6th day of July 1846.
