Hamell of the County of Carroll and State of Tennessee of the first part, and Edward Gwin & John Dickson of the County and State aforesaid of the se cond part witnesseth that the said James G. Hamell for and in consideration of three sum of three hundred dollars to him in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath this day bargained and sold and do by these pres ents bargain and sell unto the above named Gwin & Dixon the following des= cribed tract of land lying in the County of Carroll, Twelfth Surveyors District Range three & Section four & bounded as follows - Beginning on a stake black oak pointers a south West corner of Entry No. 2144 for 640 acres. Running thence East one hundred & Sixty two poles to a hickory the south East corner of said Entry No. 2144 and in the West boundary line of Thomas survey. Thence south one hundred and thirty poles to a poplar and pointers. Thence West seventy six poles to a chesnut & beech. Thence West twenty two poles to a white oak & beach. Thence North sixty one poles to the beginning - containing by estimation one hundred & thirty acres & 32 poles, & held by Grant No. 2949 - and the said James G. Hamell doth hereby covenant and agree to and with the said Edward Gwin & John Dixon that he will warrant & forever defend the right title claim & Interest to the above described land and bargained premises to the said Edward Gwin & Jn. Dixon, their heirs and assigns forever against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatever - In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and year first above written. Signed sealed and delivered in presence of James G. Hamell R. B. Gwin - William Robertson State of Tennessee Carroll County Personally appeared before me George Hern, Clerk of the County Court of said County R. B. Gwin & William Robertson, witnesses to the foregoing deed who being first sworn depose & say that they are acquainted with the above named James G.
