This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Jenny Penick Garner ==================================================================== Carroll County, TN Deeds Grantor: John Gwin Pg. 95-6 Grantee: Edward Gwin, Jr. Gordon Browning Museum, McKenzie, TN Date: 30 Jul 1828 Land: 12 Dis, Rng 3, Sec 3 This indenture made and entered into on this thirtieth date of July in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty eight between John Gwin of the county of Carroll and State of Tennessee of the one part and Edward Gwin jr. of the County & State aforesaid of the other part witnessed that for and in consideration of the Sum of four hundred and fifty dollars to him the Said John Gwin in hand paid paid By the Said Edward Gwin Junr. the receipt whereof is hereby acknolledged, therefore hath given granted bargained Sold and Conveyed and doth by these presents give grant bargain Sell and Convey unto him the Said Edward Gwin Junr. his heirs Exe cutors, Administrator and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land Conta ining one hundred and thirty six acres Situate in the county and State afores aid on the waters of Beaver Creek, lying in the twelfth District in Range Three and Section Three and bounded as follows to wit, Beginning on a Stake Six poles west of the South east corner of Entry No. 286 in the name of the president and Trustees of the university of North Carolina for 1000. acres running west with the South boundary line of the Same two hundred poles to a Stake thence South one hundred and nine poles to a hickory with black oak and white oak poin ters thence East two hundred poles to a Stake with a Small black oak pointer Thence north one hundred and nine poles to the beginning, containing one hundred and thirty Six acres. (being a tract Granted by the State of Tennessee to the Said John Gwin No. 694 and bearing date the 15th July 1827.) to have and to Hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of land with all and Singular the hereditam ents and appertenances thereunto belonging or in any way appertaining to the only proper use benefit and behoof of him the Said Edward Gwin Junr. his Heirs Executors Administrators and assigns forever and the Said John Gwin Doth hereby covenant and agree to and with the Said Edward Gwin Junr. That he Doth and will forever warrant and defend the right title claim and intrest of the before mentioned land and bargained premises to him the Said Edward Gwin Junr. his Heirs Executor administrators and assigns forever against the Claim or Claims of all and every other person or persons whomsoever in testimony whereof the Said John Gwin hath hereunto Set his hand and affixed his seal on the day and year first above written.
