This Indenture made and entered into this ______ day of December 1847 between Tilman Johnson of the one part of Weakley County and State of Tenn. And Wm. D. Scates of Carroll County & State aforsaid of the other part Witnesseth that the sd Tilman Johnson for and in consideration of three hundred Dollars to him in hand paid by sd Scates one hundred acres of land in sd County of Carroll and State aforsaid it being part of the Douglass & Stone tract beginning at the South West corner of the Same on a stake red oak pointer thence No. 84 poles to hickory sapling & red oaks and hickory pointers thence East 190 ½ poles to a stake hickory & red oak and hickory pointers thence S. 84 poles to a Stake two red oak pointers on the South boundary line of sd tract Thence W 190 ½ poles to the beginning, containing as above stated one hundred acres of land & the sd Tilman Johnson for himself & his heirs forever against the claim or claims of all and ever person or persons whatsoever in testimony whereof the sd Johnson hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and date above written.
