All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Jenny Penick Garner ********************************************************************************* Carroll County, TN Deeds Grantor: Thomas Patton Bk P Pg 546 Grantee: John McDonald Date: 22 Oct 1857 Land: Dis 3 This indenture made and entered into between Thomas Patton of the first part and John McDonald of second both of the County of Carroll & State of Tennessee witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of Two thousand Five hundred dollars to me in hand paid the receipt and payment whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargain ed and sold and by these presents doth bargon sell and convey unto John McDonald & his heirs forever a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Carroll & third civil District and in the State of Tenn being a part of the tract of 187 acres conveyed to me by P. L. Jones and bounded as follows (to wit) beginning on the north east corner of an original survey of 640 acres granted by the state to C. Jones of wich it is a part then runs west 100 poles to a stake Black Walnut mulbery poplar & Elm pointers then south one hundred & eighty-seven poles to a stake 2 black gum & 2 dogwood pointers on Travis East boundery line thence east 40 poles to a stake on Lewises line & pointers the corner to be made betwixt him & D. H. Patten the west 20 acres of the Owens 40 acres thence North eighty poles wich line is yet to be run between him & D. H. Patten dividing the Owens 40 acres at one half thence East with D. H. Pattens line Forty poles to a stake thence North Five & one third poles to a stake thence East sixty poles to a stake sweet Gum black Gum & Hickery pointers on D. H. McLures west line thence North with D. H. McClures line of his 7 acre survey fifty and 2/3 poles to the North West corner of McLures 7 acre tract on a stake Black & Sweet Gum for pointers thence east Twenty poles to a stake beach Ellm & maple pointers on the east line of the original tract and the N. E. corner of D. H. Mc Lures 7 acre tract thence North to the Beginning with the east boundery line of the original containing One hundred and twen =ty acres be the same more or less to have and to hold to him the said John McDonald & his heirs for ever I do further covenant and agree with him the said John McDonald that I am lawfully seized of said land & has a good right to convey the same and bind myself my heirs and representative to warrent and defend the title to the above described tract of land with all and singularly the appertainances thereunto belonging to him the same John McDonald his heirs or assigns agst the lawful claim or claims of all or an person whtever in witness whereof I hearunto set my hand and affix my seal this 22nd day of October 1857.
