L. Patton Date: 10 Jan 1835 Land: Rng 1, Sec 4 State of Tennessee Carroll County Know all men by these presents that I Jones Rogers of the State and County aforesaid, do this day bargain and sell to Wm. L. Patton of the state and County a-foresaid for two hundred dollars a certain tract of land lying in Carroll County in the first Range and fourth section on the North side of the obion River, Beginning at a black gum with dogwood pointers, thence ninty eight poles East to a chesnut, with white oak pointers standing on the West boundary of John Anderson's six hundred and forty acre tract running thence with said boundary line seventy eight poles south to a white oak with post oak and hickory pointers, thence West ninety eight poles to a sugar tree with beach and sugar tree pointers, thence North seventy eight poles to the beginning containing forty nine acres, which land with the appurtenances thereto, I do bind my self my heirs and assigns to warrant and defend forever against all other claims that may ever come hereafter to Wm. L. Patton his heirs and assigns forever. In witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this the 10th January in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty five. Test.
