This indenture made the twenty third day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty (five?) by and between Basil Rodgers, Ezekiel Rogers, James Rogers, Frederic Rogers, William R. Rogers, Joshua A. G. Rogers, Nathaniel Edwards and wife Alcy (Alcey) Edwards, Wm. Green & wife Minty Green, Purity Green, Nancy Rogers, William Cottingham and wife Nancy E. Cottingham legal heirs of William Rogers, Deceased of the County of Carroll and State of Tennessee one the one part, and William Cox of the above name county on the other part witnesseth that the said Basil Rodgers and William Rogers heirs for and consideration of the sum of four hundred and fifty dollars to them in hand paid the receipt is hereby acknowledged and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said William Cox his heirs and assigns a certain tract or parcel of land situated in Carroll County and state above named on the waters of Big Sandy Cherry Creek Range 3 and Section 4., beginning on a Post Oak (?) (illegible ) the SW corner of entry Entry No. 1489 for 50 acres on the North Boundary of Entry No 2523 running (illegible) north with the west boundary line of the said Entry No 1489 202 (illegible ) to a large forked white oak with (illegible, frontage?)
