This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Nettie Mae Rumors4751@aol.com ==================================================================== Benjamine Ladd's Will In the name of God Amen I Benjamine Ladd now being weak of body but of sound and perfect mind and memory do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in the manner and form following that is to say My Soul to God & my body to be decently buried, first I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Sarah Ladd on Negro Girl named Mary Ann and One mare called Peggy and one colt Nancy One Plow & Geers - One Feather Bed and furniture. Three cows and Calves that is now in possession of , and One hundred Acres of land in Tennessee that I now live on in the 2nd Range of the 2nd Section also Forty Three Dollars and 50 cents in Specei all the Kitchen and Cubboard furniture during her natural life and then to be sold and divided equally amongst all the legal Heirs of the Said Ladd I also will unto my Son Elijah Ladd Eighty dollars due by David Ladd, also One Hundred that I have given him in Land, also one hundred and twenty dollars to make him equal with the other children. I also bequeath unto Susannah Isom Daughter Martha one negro Girl named Mowning I also give nancy Cammel One negro man named Lewis and Forty three dollars and 50 cents I also give to Edward B. Ladd One negro Gril named Susannah. I also give my negro girl named Susannah her freedom and her children to be raised by Edward as long as there mother Susannah Lives and then he to be paid for the raising of the Children out of the value of the said children and the ballance of the value to divided equally amongst my legal heirs with all the Ballance of my property. I appoint Elisha Ladd and Wm. H. Bigham Executors of this my Last Will and Testament as witness I set my hand and Seal this 19th day of January 1827 in the presence of Matheas bigham - Jur S. Y. Bigham Jur. Benjamine B. Ladd his mark State of Tennessee) january 21st 1827 I Benjamine Ladd being of weak body but sound mind - after the conclusion my last will and Testament have omitted Some of the property Which I bequeath and allow and give to my wife Sarah (to wit. all the Corn, Pork, Flower & which It is my Will and desire that she shall have the above named Articles Mathewa Bigham (Seal) S. Y. Bigham Personally appeared before me William Patton one of the Justices of the peace in and for the County of Carroll and State of aforesaid, S. Y. Bigham and Mathews Bigham and made Oath that the above Instrument of writing was the last wish and desire of the Said Benjamine Ladd deceased.
