This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Anonymous ==================================================================== BASIL ROGERS' WILL I Basil Rogers of the County of Carroll and State of Tennessee planter do make and publish this my last will and Testament hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time heretofore made and first I direct that my body be decently Intered at Pisga in said County in a manner suitable to my condition in life and as to such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to intrust me with I dispose of the same as follows. First I direct that all my debts and funeral expences be paid as soon after my decease as possible out of any moneys that I may die possessed of or may first come into the hands of my Executors from any portion of my estate. Secondly I give and bequeath to my two younges sons Basil Jasper Rogers and James Franklin Rogers all my lands whereon I now live in two grants one for 137 and the other for 75 Acres Tended to me by the State of Tennessee beginning on a stake with small post and Red oak pointers on the South Boundary line of Entry No. 1092 for 470 acres in the name of James Hogg 122 poles east of the south west corner of the same and at Green H. Fields north east corner thence East with Hoggs line passing his corner 264 poles to a stake post oak white oak and black oak pointers on the west Boundary line of Nathaniel Edwards 274 acres tract thence south with said Line 96 poles to a stake with sassafras Red oak and Dogwood pointers the S.W. corner of the same on the north boundary line of Entry No. 300 for 76 acres in the name of Thomas Allen thence west 71 poles to a stake with hickory & black oak pointers thence north 15 poles to a small post with pointers thence west 58 poles to a black oak with pointers on a drain thence south 30 [degrees] west 100 poles to stake in the east boundary of Entry No. 2068 thence north 114 poles to a black oak with pointers thence west 79 poles to a Stake double Elm pointer thence north with Fields line 48 poles to the beginning by estimation 137 acres. Second tract beginning 110 poles west & 14 poles south of the N.W. corner Entry No. 1403 for 160 acres in the name of Samuel Allen on a stake white oak Spanish oak & Dogwood pointers runs north 154 poles to a black oak thence west 78 poles to a Stake Double Elm & Spanish oak pointers thence south 154 poles to a small Black oak thence east 78 poles to the beginning by estimation 75 acres that is to say, after the death or widowhood of my dear beloved wife Rebecca Rogers then for said land and premises to be equally divided between them they to take care and support myself and their mother while we shall live. Thirdly I give and bequeath to my two youngest Daughters Nancy Martin Rogers and Purity Drucilla Rogers one good feather bed bedstead and furniture each and their saddles and sixty five Dollars each to make them equal to what I give Julian Barnhart their Sister. Fourthly then if anything should remain to be Equally divided between Ely W. Rogers G. D. B. Rogers Julian Barnhart Nancy martin Rogers Purity Drucilla Rogers & my son William A. Rogers Deceased his five children I do hereby make ordain and appoint my Esteemed Brother William R Rogers Executor of this my last will and testament in witness whereof I basil Rogers the said testator have to this my will written on one sheet of paper set my hand and seal this third day of April in the year of our lord one thousand Eight hundred and fifty five Signed sealed and published in the presence of us who have subscribed in the presence of the Testator and of each other.
