Adkins Helen Ruth Adkins, 77, 101 Waycaster Road, Hampton, a loving Mother and Grandmother, went home to be with her Lord on His birthday. A native of Carter County, she had lived most of her life in Johnson City. She was a daughter of the late Robert T. and Myrtle Louise Hill Williams. Mrs. Adkins was a homemaker and a beloved member of the Hampton Church of God. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Adkins was preceded in death by her husband, Howard F. Adkins, in March of 1998; two sisters, Josephine Williams and Betty Lou Jones; a brother, Richard W. Williams; three half sisters, Edna Poff, Elsie Bradley and Dorothy Perry; and three half brothers, George Williams, Gene Williams and Sutton Williams. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Gail and Charles Geisler of Hampton, Nancy Faye and Paul Sherman and Martha Anne and Butch Brock, all of Johnson City; two stepdaughters, Mary Ann Talmadge of Texas and Kathy Hill of Illinois; two sisters, Carrie Winters and Diane Thomas, both of Johnson City; two half sisters, Sylvia Street and Mary Esther Estep, both of Elizabethton; a brother, Harry Williams of Asheville, N.C.; and seven grandchildren, Stephanie Jaynes, Carolyn Mitchell, David Reed, Lonnie Reed, Christie Pohto, Kimberly Sherman and Jeffrey Glenn Saults. Several great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mrs. Adkins will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, December 28, at the Hampton Church of God with Rev. Hobart Bradshaw officiating. Music will be by members of the church. The graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 29, at Washington County Memory Gardens. Everyone will meet at Morris-Baker Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Friday to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Charles Geisler, Chris Geisler, Billy Jaynes, Harold Presnell, Ray Kempton and Butch Brock. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Hampton Church of God. The family will receive friends at Hampton Church of God from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service.
