Arnett, 78, Rt. 2, Roan Mountain, died Sunday in the Carter County Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Arnett was a native of Avery County, N. C., and the son of the late John and Orpha Townsend Arnett. He was a member of the St.John Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bertha Winters Arnett, of the home; five daughters, Mrs. Willie Troutman and Mrs, Pat Hughes, both of Rt. 3, Roan Mountain, Mrs. Sandra K. Hughes, Rt. 1, Roan Mountain, Mrs. Kathy Elliott and, Miss Jackie Arnett, both of Rt. 2, Roan Mountain; and two sons, Jimmy Dean Arnett and James Wesley Arnett, both of Rt. 1, Roan Mountain; one sister, Mrs. Gertie Lyons, Rt. 2, Roan Mountain; and one brother, Howard Arnett, Rt. 2, Roan Mountain. Seven grandchildren also survive. Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, is in charge of the arrangements.
