Ramon Ashley

   Ramon Ashley, 82, formerly of 171 Walnut Mountain Road, Roan Mountain, 
died Saturday, May 11, 2002, at Erwin Health Care Center following an 
extended illness.
   Mr. Ashley was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Jim 
and Harriett Grindstaff Ashley. He was also preceded in death by a brother, 
Ben Ashley, and three sisters, Nora Hodge, Martha Hamby and Elizabeth 
Campbell.
   Mr. Ashley was a retired farmer.
   Survivors include a son, Ray Ashley, and a sister, Annie Potter, Roan 
Mountain; a brother, Jim Ashley, Elizabethton; Several nieces and nephews 
also survive.

   ASHLEY -- Funeral services for Ramon Ashley, 82, formerly of 171 Walnut 
Mountain Road, Roan Mountain, who died Saturday, May 11, 2002, will be 
conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron 
Chapel, with the Rev. Jim Storie officiating. Interment will follow the 
services at Isaacs Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Robert Dugger, 
Danny Ray Potter, Charlie Potter, Scottie Potter, Tony Lee Potter and 
Dean Jones. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at 
the Rhododendron Chapel. Friends may also call at the residence of his 
sister, Annie Potter, at any time. Condolences may be sent to the family
