CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Wanda I. Austin, 25 Apr 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Wanda I. Austin, 87, Wilson Ave., Elizabethton, died Sunday, April 25, 2004 at her residence following a brief illness. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Charles R. and Bessie L. Minton Scoggins. She was of the Baptist faith, a homemaker and a mother. Mrs. Austin was an avid Braves fan. She was preceded in death by her husband, David H. Austin; two infant sons, Christopher Austin and Charles Austin; one brother, Clarence P. Scoggins; an infant sister, and a son-in-law, Charles E. Eggers. Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Larry and Surry Austin, of Las Cruces, N.M.; Gary Austin, Elizabethton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Patty Eggers, Elizabethton; Brenda and Jerry Blevins, Elizabethton; Cindy and Darryll Larkin, Watauga; eight grandchildren, David J. Austin and Lisa Crume, Johnson City; Len Austin, of Calif.; Jason and Wendy Eggers, Watauga; Brandon Blevins, Elizabethton; Tara and Mary Canty, Kingsport; Leah Austin, of Turner Falls, Mass.; Chad and Emily Larkin, Elizabethton; Stacy and Jared McKinney, Johnson City; six great-grandchildren, Christina Austin, Johnson City; Erik Larkin, Elizabethton; Madison McKinney and Jonah McKinney, Johnson City; Ryan Eggers, Watauga; Sara Wirth and Ian Wirth, both of Johnson City; two very special sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Scoggins, Elizabethton, and Jean Roudisikis, of Ronceverte, West Virginia. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at Tetrick Funeral Home Riverside Chapel with Rev. Jim Murray, Rev. David Montgomery and Rev. Gary Montgomery officiating. Music will be under the direction of Rev. David Montgomery, Rev. Gary Montgomery and Kay Arnold. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home chapel prior to the funeral service, or friends may call at the residence any time. The graveside service and burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be grandsons David Austin, Brandon Blevins, Jason Eggers, Chad Larkin, Jarod McKinney and Mark Canty. Honorary pallbearers will be Travis Blevins, Jerry Blevins, Darryll Larkin and R.D. Snead. Special friends are Dr. Joe May and staff; Heath Arnold, Cathy Nave, Mary Jo Julian, Betty Jo "Muz" Montgomery, Freddie Malone, Dot Oaks, Edna Taylor, Violet Lyons, Chelsey Weddle, and Savana Weddle. The family would like to offer their appreciation to the Medical Center Hospice Team. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home chapel at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, April 28, 2004 to go in procession to the cemetery.
