CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Carl Samuel Austin Sr., 8 Jun 2005 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Carl Samuel Austin Sr., West G Street, Elizabethton, died Wednesday, June 8, 2005, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton following an extended illness. Mr. Austin was a native of Washington County and the son of the late Norman and Elizabeth Fox Austin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Austin and M.J. Austin, and five sisters, Irene Austin, Katherine Austin, Blanch Austin, Dorothy Chambers and Elsie Chambers. Mr. Austin was retired from Inland Container Corporation and was a member of First Christian Church of Elizabethton. He was an avid coin collector and gardener. He was a U.S. Army veteran, stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Survivors include his wife, Bernice Snyder Austin, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Carl Samuel Austin Jr. and Lee Anne Austin, Colbert, Ga.; and three grandchildren, Blake Austin, Elizabeth Austin and Emily Austin, all of Colbert, Ga. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside and inurnment services for Mr. Austin will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 11, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. Brent Nidiffer, minister, officiating. Honorary pallbearer will be a special friend, Sam Ritchie. Friends may call at the residence, 304 West G Street, Elizabethton, at anytime. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 9:55 a.m. Saturday. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Carter County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 776, Elizabethton, TN 37644.
