Banner Mable G. Banner, 90, 113 Lynnwood Avenue, Elizabethton, died Sunday, February 4, 2007, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Carter County, she was a daughter of the late James Gouge and Betty Gouge Stout. Mrs. Banner was a member of East Side Christian Church, the CL Circle at East Side Christian Church and the Sycamore Chapter #163 of the Order of Eastern Star, where she received her 50-year pin. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Banner was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Banner, a brother, Omar Stout, and two sisters, Juanita Brown and Shirley Potter. Survivors are one son and daughter-in-law, LaVerne and Lynn Ann Banner of Elizabethton; two daughters and one son-in-law, June and Ray Dugger of Bluff City and JoAnn Banner of Elizabethton; five grandchildren, Lynn Dugger and wife Rachel, Lisa Dugger, Michael Banner and wife Carol, Mark Banner and wife Jennifer and Felecia Southerland and husband Gary; and four great- grandchildren, Jonathan and Jordan Banner and Abigail and Grayson Dugger. Several nieces, nephews and some very special friends also survive. The funeral service for Mrs. Banner will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Mr. John Smith, minister, officiating. Music will be under the direction of Joel Crisp and Mary Smith. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service. Friends may also call at the residence of her daughter, JoAnn Banner, at anytime. The committal and entombment service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 7, in the Mausoleum of Hope at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Those attending are asked to meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Michael Banner, Mark Banner, Gary Southerland, Lynn Dugger, Lynn England, W.G. Ward, Keith Carr and Wes Holsclaw. Honorary pallbearers will be Thurman Brown, Tim Brown, Pat Brown, Marshall Brown, Ron Miles, Steve Potter, Prentice Potter, Jim Troutman, Duane Blevins and Ernest Andrews. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to East Side Christian Church, 1400 Siam Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
