Brown Hattie Marie Redd Brown, 93, 719 S. Lynn Avenue, Elizabethton, died Monday, September 19, 2005, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Brown was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late George Washington and Cecilia Roberts Craig. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John William Redd, and her second husband, Robert E. Brown. Mrs. Brown was a member of Phillippi Baptist Church, Elizabethton, and a former member of the Mothers Board. Survivors include two sisters, Emma Machen, Youngstown, Ohio, and AnnaBelle Harris, Elizabethton; two nephews, Jerry Taylor and wife Dorothy, Fort Walton, Fla., and Jerry Paul Delap, Denver, Colo.; and four nieces, Sheila A. Poirier, Kingsport, Willie Taylor, Elizabethton, Rhonda Joyce Taylor, Kingsport, and Betty Jean Taylor, Portsmouth, Va. The funeral service for Mrs. Brown will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, September 23, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with Rev. Joseph Hollifield officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, prior to the service in the chapel, or at other times at the residence. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Mothers Board at Phillippi Baptist Church, 200 East M Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
