CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Alfred Junior Babb, 25 Jun 2003 ----¤¤¤---- Alfred J. Babb Mr. Alfred Junior Babb, 81, Big Springs Road, Elizabethton, died Wednesday, June 25, 2003 in the James H. Quillen V.A. Medical Center following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Alf C. and Reddie Ann Meddlin Babb. He was a retired carpenter having worked with Caudle Building for twenty-one years. He was a member of Prayer Tabernacle Church and was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Marshall Babb, Otis Babb and Guy Babb; one granddaughter, Stephanie Babb, and one grandson, Mark Allen Babb. Survivors include his wife, Maggie Hubbard Babb, of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny Steve and Carolyn Babb, Bobby Kenneth and Judy Babb, and Michael Keith and Elaine Babb, all of Elizabethton,; four brothers, Cecil Babb, Carson Babb and Arch Babb, all of Johnson City, and Dayton Babb, Jonesborough; two sisters, Lena Phipps, Hampton, and Gladys Weaver, Johnson City; two half-brothers, Freddie Babb and Marvin Babb, both of Johnson City; two half-sisters, Wanda and Verna, both of Johnson City; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. BABB -- Funeral services for Mr. Alfred Junior Babb, 81, Big Springs Road, Elizabethton, who died Wednesday, June 25, 2003, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 2003 in the Sunset Chapel of Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Rev. A. G. Wagner and Rev. Johnny Hilton officiating. Music will be provided by Bill and Barbara Trent and Shannon Hoilman. Private interment will be conducted Friday, June 27, 2003 at the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Carl Roberts, Merrell Wagner, Troy Wagner, David Babb, and grandsons Tony Babb and David K. Babb. Honorary pallbearers will be the doctors and nurses of C1 of the James H. Quillen V.A. Medical Center, Eulis Bumgardner, Jim Carden, Ellis Caudle and Tom Caudle. Military honors will be accorded by the Captain Lynn H. Folsom V.F.W. Post #2166. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday or at the residence of a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Judy Babb.
