Back Geneva Chambers Back, 86, of Stamford, Conn., and Alexandria, Va., died Saturday, January 19, 2002, at her home in Stamford. Mrs. Back was born and spent her early years in Elizabethton before moving to Hampton, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elijah and Hattie Whitehead Chambers; her husband, Lt. Col. John F. Back, a career Army officer; three brothers, Dave Chambers, James Chambers and Don Chambers; and two sisters, Jessie Truitt and Kay Pogue. Mrs. Back traveled extensively with the Army. Survivors include a son, Col. John Frederick Back Jr. (USA, Ret.), Middletown, N.J., and a daughter, Bonnie K. Berner, Rye, N.Y. Six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, February 7, at Ft. Meyers Chapel, Arlington, Va., with interment to follow at Arlington National Cemetery. Murphy Funeral Home, Arlington, Va., will be in charge of arrangements.
