CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Laura G. Baker, 20 Jan 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Laura G. Baker, 86, formerly of Crabtree Road, Roan Mountain, died Tuesday, January 20, 2004, at Roan Highlands Nursing Center, following a brief illness. Mrs. Baker was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late J.B. and Lucy Hopson Lyons. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George M. Baker, a daughter, Martha Cron, and a son, James Potter. Mrs. Baker was of the missionary Baptist faith and was a homemaker. Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Ethel Carmack, Roan Mountain, and Louise and George Day, Waxhaw, N.C.; a son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Judy Potter, Crossnore, N.C.; and two sisters, Anona Knaack, Roan Mountain, and Hattie Marie Harper, Wilmington, Del. Seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, with the Rev. Mike Ward officiating. Interment will follow at Lacey Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
