A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Mitch and Florence Holtsclaw Barnett. He was of the Baptist faith and a former employee of Holtsclaw Lumber Co. and Glen Raven Mills. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law: Kim and Nina Barnett, Roan Mountain; two brothers: Bloss Barnett, Roan Mountain; and Dana Barnett, Johnson City; one grandson, Brandon English, Roan Mountain; one granddaughter, Nyoka Potter, Roan Mountain; several nieces and nephews and a special aunt, Nellie Hall, Roan Mountain. BARNETT -- Funeral services for Mitchell Barnett, Jr., 70, 305 Sugar Hollow Road, Roan Mountain, who died Saturday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, 1999, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, with the Rev. Zeb Honeycutt officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, at Barnett Family Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Brandon English, Scott Potter, Doug Barnett, Chris Barnett, Wade Johnson and Jeff Winters. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Hutchins, Charlie Williams and Red Holtsclaw. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Tuesday for the graveside service. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Monday evening at Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel. For those who prefer, memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to Carter County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 682, Elizabethton, TN 37644. Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
