Mr. Barnett was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Charlie and Minnie Cox Barnett. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Brownlow Barnett, and six sisters, Mildred Barnett, Elizabeth Barnett Tipton, Mary Barnett Miller, Frances Barnett Greer, Ruth Barnett Greer and Daisy Barnett. Mr. Barnett was a faithful member of Burbank Free Will Baptist Church and a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation after 36 years in the 2nd Unit Spinning Department. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, World War II, Pacific Theatre. Survivors include his wife, Marie Greer Barnett, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Patsy Barnett, Johnson City, and Stephen and Gilda Barnett, Roan Mountain; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Wilma Barnett, Johnson City; three sisters, Crystal Barnett Jarrett and Grace Barnett Stockton, both of Roan Mountain, and Mae Barnett Willis, Mountain City; two granddaughters, Rachel Barnett, Johnson City, and Mendy Barnett, Roan Mountain; two grandsons and their wives, Nyle and Nicole Barnett, Roan Mountain, and Aaron and Kelli Barnett, Johnson City; and a special nephew, Fred Martin, Johnson City. Several other nieces and nephews also survive. Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, is in charge of arrangements. BARNETT -- Funeral services for Crawford Barnett, 79, 359 Burbank Road, Roan Mountain, who died Thursday, will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday at Burbank Free Will Baptist Church, Roan Mountain, with Rev. Richard Blevins officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greer Cemetery in Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers will be selected from nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Burbank Free Will Baptist Church and family, friends and neighbors. Everyone will meet at the church at 10:30 a.m. Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Burbank Free Will Baptist Church or at the residence, 359 Burbank Road, Roan Mountain, any time.
