CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - James L. Bass Jr., 13 Jun 2002 ----¤¤¤---- James L. Bass Jr. LIMA, Ohio -- James L. Bass Jr., 77, died Thursday, June 13, 2002, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. Mr. Bass was a native of Elizabethton, Tenn., and a son of the late James Sr. and Elizabeth Bass. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Odessa Bass, July 1, 1997; a daughter, Deborah Mae Bass; and a son, James Bass Jr. Mr. Bass was a 40-year employee of the Lima Engine Plant of Ford Motor Company, having retired in 1997. He was employed as a reliefman on the assembly line. He was a member of Mt. Olive Church of God in Christ and a member of the UAW. Mr. Bass had been a decorated World War II Army veteran, receiving four Bronze Stars. Survivors include four sons and two daughters-in-law, Darren and Penny Bass, Lima, James D. Bass, Elizabethton, Tenn., Dexter A. Bass, Mansfield, Ohio, and Terrance and Vanassa Bass, Cincinnati, Ohio; two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Laval Malachi, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Donna and LeTroy McFadden, Leesburg, Va.; a sister, Edna Forney, Atlanta, Ga.; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Margaret and Russel Harris, Powell, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, Deborah McFadden, Chavon McFadden, Darren Bass, Taylor Bass, Rodney Bass, Shane Coomes, Alexis Bass and Jazmne Bass; and one great-grandchild, Cory McFadden. Siferd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. BASS -- Funeral services for James L. Bass Jr., 77, who died Thursday, June 13, 2002, in Lima, Ohio, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, June 17, from the Mt. Olive Church of God in Christ. Graveside services and interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Military Rites accorded by the Lima VFW Post #1275. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 16, in the Siferd Westwood Funeral Home Chapel.
