Della Bennett

   Della Bennett, 95, Roan Highlands Nursing Center, formerly of Route 3, 
Roan Mountain, died Wednesday, February 2, 2000, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital 
following an extended illness.
   Mrs. Bennett was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late 
John Bell and Rader Hamby Jones. She was also preceded in death by her 
husband, Chester "Ches" Bennett, a daughter, Hazel Hamby, and two sons, 
John and Herbert Bennett.
   Mrs. Bennett was a member of the Church of Christ and dedicated to her 
family.
   Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Finnett and Stanley Stevens, 
Hampton; a son and daughter-in-law, Max and Ester Bennett, Roan Mountain; 
and a special grandson and his wife, Chester and Julie Bennett, Hammond, 
Ind. Sixteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, great-great-
grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

   BENNETT -- Funeral services for Della Bennett, 95, Roan Highlands 
Nursing Center, formerly of Route 3, Roan Mountain, who died Wednesday, 
February 2, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, February 4, at Tetrick 
Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, with Rev. Jim Storie 
officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Vance Family. 
Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 5, 
at Bennett Family Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be David Stevens, 
Thurston Webb, Greyland Webb, Travis Stout, Andy Stout, David McKinney, 
Wayne McKinney and Danny Bennett. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Jerry 
Gastineau, Dr. David Fenner, Dr. Vance Shaw and the Nursing Staffs of 
Sycamore Shoals Hospital, Roan Highlands Nursing Center and Life Care 
Center of Elizabethton. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 1:15 
p.m. Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive 
friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Friends may also 
call at the residence of her daughter, Finnett Stevens, Browns Branch Road, 
Hampton, or her son, Max Bennett, Shell Creek Road, Roan Mountain, any
