Berry, 70, 110 Hopson Road, Johnson City, died Tuesday, February 13, 2001, at Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Berry was a native of Carter County and the son of Mrs. Margaret Berry Price Honeycutt, Elizabethton, and the late Dana Harmon Jack Berry. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Honeycutt; two brothers, Howard Berry and Harold Berry; a grandson, David Scott Smith; and his stepfather, John Honeycutt. Mr. Berry was a co-founder, deacon and member of True Gospel Baptist Church. He was retired from the Johnson City Transit System and was a former employee of Pet Dairy. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Ruth Sams Berry, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Kermit Smith, Elizabethton; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Dana and Nancy Berry, Columbia, S.C., Leonard A. and Rhonda Berry and Keith A. and Missie Berry, all of Johnson City, and Teddy Lee Berry, of the home; two sisters, Charlotte Warner, Elizabethton, and Tommy Jo Price Grant, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; and two brothers, Bob Berry, Virginia Beach, Va., and Bill Honeycutt, Kingsport. Six granddaughters, a grandson, a great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews also survive. Berry, 70, 110 Hopson Road, Johnson City, who died Tuesday, February 13, 2001, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, February 16, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, with the Rev. Dean Presnell and the Rev. Melvin Ferrell officiating. Music will be under the direction of Vickie Ferrell and Angie Bowman. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 17, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Jim Berry, Paul Warner, John Warner, Terry Warner, Ed Warner, Jeffery Grant, Michael Honeycutt and Steven Honeycutt. Honorary pallbearers will be the Rev. Earl Berry, Carl Berry, Clarence Berry, Lawrence Berry, J.W. Sams, Bill Sams, Jim Sams, Paul Sams and Jerry Sams. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Saturday for the graveside service. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence, 110 Hopson Road, Johnson City, any time.
