Berry William A. Berry, 83, 710 West I. Street, Elizabethton, formerly of 142 Pierce Branch Road, died Monday, December 24, 2001, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center Hospital, Mountain Home, following an extended illness. Mr. Berry was a native of Carter County and the son of the late W.C. and Bernie Buckles Berry. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Iva Garland. Mr. Berry was a member of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church and was a retired carpenter. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Letha Lyons and Floreine and Kenneth Keller, all of Elizabethton, and Ida and Jim Campbell, Watauga; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Bev Berry, Carmichael, Calif., John B. and Georgia Berry, Elizabethton, and R.H. and Jean Berry, Watauga; two uncles, Brice Robinson and U.G. Buckles, both of Elizabethton; and a special cousin, Anna Ruth Pierce, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Street, Elizabethton, formerly of 142 Pierce Branch Road, who died Monday, December 24, 2001, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 27, at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, with the Rev. Willie Lunsford officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church and the Winter Community. The family, friends and minister will meet at the cemetery at 9:55 a.m. Thursday for the graveside service. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton. Those who prefer in lieu of flowers may make donations in memory of Mr. Berry to the Scholarship Fund of Calvary Baptist Church, 225 Holly Lane, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
