CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Bessie Pearl Blevins, 4 Jan 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Bessie Pearl Blevins, 91, Ivy Hall Nursing Home, Elizabethton, formerly of Coney Island Rd., Elizabethton, died Sunday, January 4, 2004 in Ivy Hall. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Mike and Lucy Bartee Hardin. She was a member of Carter Christian Church. Mrs. Blevins was preceded in death by her husband, Clark Blevins; a son, Kenneth Blevins; four sisters, Mabel Forbes, Goldie Grindstaff, Mary Hardin and Ina Hardin, and three brothers, Homer, Alex and Walter Hardin. Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Kyte and Brenda Vines, both of Elizabethton, and Geraldine Peters, Johnson City; two sons, Earl and Hal Blevins, both of Elizabethton; one sister, Leila McGuire, Johnson City; 17 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2004 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Ernie Depew, minister, officiating. Graveside services and burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2004 in the Blevins Cemetery. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of a daughter, Geraldine Peters, 2519 Louise St., Johnson City, or Debbie Scott, 107 Coney Island Rd., Elizabethton.
