CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Geneva J. Blevins, 28 Apr 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Geneva J. Blevins Geneva J. Blevins, 80, formerly of Old Hwy. 143, Roan Mountain, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at Roan Highlands Nursing Center, Roan Mountain, following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was the daughter of the late Cain and Delia McKinney Julian. She was a member of Roan Mountain Holiness Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Blevins, Sr. and two brothers, Nathan Julian and Norman Julian. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, John S. Blevins, Jr. and Sharon Blevins, Kingsport; one daughter and son-in-law, Evangeline and Gene Ashley, Roan Mountain; seven grandchildren, John S. Blevins, III, Knoxville; Amanda Blevins, Kingsport; Amelia Blevins, Lexington, Ky.; Kim Hughes, Michelle Perkins, Cindy Hamby, all of Roan Mountain; Sandra Pritchard, Frank, N.C., and eight great- grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2004, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain with Rev. Don Julian officiating. Music will be under the direction of Pat Julian, Jean Honeycutt and Charlotte Smith. Burial will follow the funeral service at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Gene Ashley, Mark Hamby, Channing Perkins, Donnie Perkins, Randy Pritchard and B.J. Morgan. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Julian, Jim Julian, Don Hill and Lonnie Clark. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel on Friday, or friends may call at the residence of a daughter, Evangeline Ashley, 7925 U.S. Hwy. 19-E, Roan Mountain, any time.
