Boone 01/18/99 Ernest Daniel Boone, 92, 305 Stratton Street, Roan Mountain, died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late James and Retta Tipton Boone. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Herman, John and Dave Boone; four sisters: Bertha, Hughes, Maxie Street, Hazel Street and Florence Posey. Mr. Boone attended First Baptist Church of Roan Mountain and was self- employed as a mechanic. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Potter Boone, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Reece and Wilma Boone; a daughter and son-in-law, Tonyia and Steve Stanley, all of Roan Mountain; two granddaughters: Lisa Boone Gwyn and her husband, Mark; Dakota Danielle Boone Stanley, all of Roan Mountain, one grandson, Blake Boone Stanley, Roan Mountain, and one sister, Lydia Powell, Roan Mountain. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. BOONE -- Funeral Services for Ernest Daniel Boone, 92, 305 Stratton Street, Roan Mountain, who died Friday, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, 1999, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, with the Rev. Jim Storie and the Rev. Gary Whitehead officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Lower Shell Creek Christian Church Choir. Interment will follow at Johnson-Roan View Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Mark Gwyn, Gary Hicks, Robert Reed, Raymond Thomas, Bud McClain, Bob Ray, Mike Potter, Gene Brewer, and Shane Usuary. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Brown, Jay Denton, Sr., Leroy Stockton, Jim Carr, Al LeBranch, Bradley Thasenburg, Dennis Storie, the senior men's class of First Baptist Church of Roan Mountain, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Tetrick Funeral Home, Rhododendron Chapel. For those who prefer, memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Lewis Rathburn Wellness Center, 121 Sherwood Road, Asheville, N.C. 28803.
