Boone 03/29/99 Mrs. Martha Marie Greer Boone, 87, formerly of Rt. 1, Roan Mountain, and the Asbury Center, Johnson City, died Sunday, March 28, 1999, at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Boone was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late William Floyd and Sarah Caroline Street Greer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Oran O'Neal Boone, September 3, 1973; a son, Eugene Floyd Boone; a great-grandson, Timothy Tisdale; two sisters, Frankie Jarrett and Grace Greer; and three brothers, Fred Greer, Burt Greer and Reece Greer. Mrs. Boone was a member of the Burbank Free Will Baptist Church and attended East Side Baptist Church. She was a retired cook with the Carter County School System, serving at Cloudland High School. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Ray Teter, Watauga, Grace and Carl Canter and Charlotte and Bud Julian, all of Elizabethton; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Lawrence and Mary Boone, Watauga, Harold Dean and Judy Boone and Jim Boone, all of Elizabethton; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Kansas and Pierce Hughes, Elizabethton, and Marie and Crawford Barnett, Roan Mountain; a brother and sister-in-law, Elige and Beatrice Greer, Burlington, N.C.; 22 grandchildren; 24 great- grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Audrey Bowers, Bluff City. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. BOONE -- Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Marie Greer Boone, 87, formerly of Rt. 1, Roan Mountain, and the Asbury Center, Johnson City, who died Sunday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, with Rev. Howard Messer and Rev. Bill Greer officiating. Music will be under the direction of Bob Moore and Marsha Jaynes. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Greer Family Cemetery in the Burbank Community of Roan Mountain. Active pallbearers will be selected from her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the Second Floor Nursing Staff at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital, Dr. Frank Johnson and the Caregivers of Asbury Center. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Friends may also call at the home of a daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Bud Julian, 1014 Arney Street, Elizabethton, any time. The family, friends, ministers and pallbearers will meet at the funeral home at 9 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery. Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
