Bowers 10/13/99 Fronie Blevins Ballard Bowers, 75, 1957 Dave Buck Road, Johnson City, died Monday, October 11, 1999, at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Bowers was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late James and Sally Massengill Blevins. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, William E. Ballard, a son, Marvin Ballard, three sisters and two brothers. Mrs. Bowers was a member of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church and a former employee of Texas Instruments. Survivors include her husband, Luther Bowers, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Susie and Coy Lane, Elizabethton; four sons and daughters-in- law, Wade and Carolyn Ballard, Bluff City, Dale and Patricia Ballard, Fairfield, Pa., Ray and Teresa Ballard, Elizabethton, and Rondal and Natasha Ballard, Okinawa, Japan; a sister, Hattie Carr, Aiken, S.C.; four brothers, George Blevins, Arthur Blevins, James Blevins and Reece Blevins, all of Elizabethton; three stepdaughters, Denise Blevins and Sherry Graybeal, both of Elizabethton, and Terri Scott, Bluff City; and two stepsons, Lynn Bowers and Chris Bowers, both of Elizabethton. Fifteen grandchildren, six great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. BOWERS -- Funeral services for Fronie Blevins Ballard Bowers, 75, 1957 Dave Buck Road, Johnson City, who died Monday, will be conducted at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, with Rev. Bobby Stout and Rev. Stephen Hensley officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church Choir. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Highland Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the Nursing Staff, 2nd Floor, Johnson City Medical Center Hospital, and Dr. Ahmed Khan. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of her daughter, Susie Lane, 108 Sneed Hill Road, Elizabethton, any time. For those who prefer, memorials in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Carter County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 682, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37644.
