A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Arthur and Mary Nidiffer Bowers and Sally Williams Bowers. Mr. Bowers was a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation, and a member of the Stoney Creek Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford Bowers, and two sisters, Mae Smith and Josie Hyder. Survivors include his wife, Nell Robinson Bowers; one daughter, Patricia Bowers, Elizabethton; one son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Phyllis Bowers, Elizabethton; three sisters, Juanita Bowers, Ceola Bowers, and Hildred Bowers, all of Elizabethton; two brothers, Luther Bowers and Grover Bowers, Elizabethton; two grandchildren, Trampas Bowers and Angie and her husband, Steven Maupin; one great grandson, Gabriel Maupin. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. BOWERS - Funeral services for Floyd Bowers, 82, 162 Creek Bank Rd., Elizabethton, who died Monday will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Stoney Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Estep, Dr. Kenneth Jordan, and Rev. H. Brooks Peters officiating. Graveside service and interment will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Caldwell Springs Cemetery. The church quartet will provide the music. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the church at 7:50 p.m. Wednesday and also at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Thursday will be A.D. "Sonny" Fletcher, John Fletcher, Bob Hyder, Raymond Lowe, Jerry Greene, Desler Salyer, Earnest "Gebe" Ritchie, George Gregory, Cobb Riddle, and Dean Robinson. Honorary pallbearers will be Senior Adult Men's Sunday School Class at Stoney Creek Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. The body will be taken to the church at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Friends may also all at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Thursday to go to the cemetery. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
