Riverside Drive, Elizabethton, died Monday, July 3, 2000, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Bowers was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Hunter and Emma Crosswhite Bowers. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Goforth, and his stepfather, Agee D. Williams. Mr. Bowers was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Elizabethton and a retired mechanical draftsman with Great Lakes Research Corporation. Survivors include his wife, Mary Edens Bowers, of the home; a daughter, Debra Bowers Pierce, Elizabethton; a brother and sister-in- law, J. Howard and Rowena Bowers, Johnson City; a sister, Elaine Proffitt, Bluff City; and four nephews, Kenny Goforth, Kingsport, Rick Bowers, Jonesborough, Robert and Mark Proffitt, both of Bluff City. Riverside Drive, Elizabethton, who died Monday, July 3, 2000, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, with Rev. Phil Poston and Dr. Don Marshall, minister, officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Kenneth Goforth, Rick Bowers, Victor Deloach, Bill Carter, Clarence Bowman and Horace Broome. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Estep, Jack Miller, Paul Manning, Tom Chase, Ira Daniels, Harry Hutchins, Jesse Winters, John R. Campbell, Bill Hodge, Richard Tittle, Robert Proffitt, Mark Proffitt, Roger Pierce, Jesse Birchfield, Will Andrews, Dr. Todd A. Whitaker and Employees of Burgie Drug Store, City Market, Northeast Community Credit Union, Elizabethton Public Library, Moody Barber Shop and R & M Radio.
