Bowers Ethel G. Bowers, 77, formerly of City View Apt. No. 302, Briarcliff Street, Johnson City, and also the Blue Springs Community of Elizabethton, died Sunday, June 17, 2001, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton following an extended illness. Mrs. Bowers was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Pettibone and Sallie Berry Bowers. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. Mrs. Bowers was a member of Blue Springs Christian Church and was a homemaker. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Rena Bowers, Jonesborough; a granddaughter, Tina Balthis, Telford; a grandson, Keith Rice, Jonesborough; four great-grandchildren, Mark Rice, Telford, Amy Rice, Jonesborough, Aleigha Sexton and Trey Balthis, both of Telford; a great- great-grandson, Hunter Rice, Telford; two nephews, Lewis Bowers and Fred Bowers, both of Elizabethton; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Bowers and Myrtle Carden, both of Elizabethton. No. 302, Briarcliff Street, Johnson City, and also the Blue Springs Community of Elizabethton, who died Sunday, June 17, 2001, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, with Pastor Jerry Keasling officiating. Music will be under the direction of Ernie and Nellie Ford. Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday June 20, at Bowers Cemetery with Mr. Richard Thomason, minister, officiating. Active pallbearers will be Fain Bowers, Ernest Bowers, Sherrill Bowers, Terry Oliver, Darrell Bowers and Buck Balthis. Honorary pallbearers will be the doctors and nursing staff of Life Care Center of Elizabethton. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
