CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Ida Virginia Bowers, 19 Apr 2003 ----ددد---- Ida V. Bowers Mrs. Ida Virginia Bowers, 82, formerly of Division Street, Elizabethton, died at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Vicki Carole and Sonny Hood, Church Street, Butler, Saturday, April 19, 2003. A native of Carter County, Mrs. Bowers was a daughter of the late John L. Bowers, Sr. and Winnie Elizabeth Morley Bowers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ruby Bowers, in 1990, by a sister, Nelle Bowers Steele Lubbs, and a brother, Ralph Bowers, Sr. Mrs. Bowers was secretary for the law firm of Allen, Nelson & Bowers for 26 years. She attended the First Baptist Church of Elizabethton. In addition to her daughter and son-in-law, survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Roger Lynn and Claire Bowers, Elizabethton; a sister, Christine Bernice Oglesby, Johnson City; a brother and sister-in-law, John L. Bowers, Jr., and Yvonne Bowers, Elizabethton; 10 grandchildren, Heather Lynn McCowan, Jonathan Chase McCowan, Erin Elizabeth McCowan, Michael Thomas Bowers and wife, Teresa, Lisa Carol Bowers Comstock and husband, Monroe, Maria Robinson and husband, Ray, Daniel Leonard Bowers, Joel Bowers, Jennifer Ellis and husband, Brent, and Rebecca Ann Bowers; 10 great-grandchildren, and seven nieces and nephews. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. BOWERS -- Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Virginia Bowers, 82, formerly of Division Street, Elizabethton, who died Saturday, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Brent Seals officiating. Graveside service and interment will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2003, in Happy Valley Memorial Park. The First Baptist Church Choir and Carol Bowers, organist, will provide the music. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Wednesday, will be Gregory Howell Bowers, John L. Bowers, III, Chase McCowan, Ralph Bowers, Jr., David Bowers, Richard Bowling and Roger Allen Duncan. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Vicki Carole and Sonny Hood, 136 Church Street, Butler.
