CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Mary Evelyn Bowling, 23 Aug 2002 ----¤¤¤---- Mary E. Bowling Mary Evelyn Bowling, 89, of Pine Ridge Care Center, Elizabethton, died Friday, August 23, 2002, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Bowling was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Ben and Ercvel Hardin White. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Herman C. Bowling, a sister, Helen Long, and two brothers, Paul White and Jay White. Mrs. Bowling was a member of East Side Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and a member of the Elizabethton Senior Citizens. Survivors include four sons and three daughters-in-law, Bob and Colleen Bowling, Joe Bowling, Larry and Sherry Bowling and Sonny and Dena Bowling, all of Elizabethton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Danny Hawks and Kathy and Mike Smith, all of Elizabethton; a sister, Jean Gallian, Clinton, Kan.; four half brothers, Wilbur White, Elizabethton, Lawrence White, Jackie White and Benny White, all of Johnson City; 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Louise Hammitt, Pine Ridge Care Center. Howard Messer and the Rev. Steve Burleson officiating. Music will be under the direction of Dena Bowling and Serena Little. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, August 26, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Michael Smith, Kevin Bowling, Danny Hawks, Matt Bowling, Mark Bowling, Chad Harvey, Travis Bowling and Tim Mink. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Bowling, Bill Bowling, Richard Allen Bowling, Terry Bowling, Jimmy Bowling and Chris Bowling. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:15 p.m. Monday to go in procession to the cemetery.
