CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - James E. Bowling, 3 Jan 2004

James E. Bowling, 78, Rufus Taylor Road, Elizabethton, died 
Saturday, January 3, 2004, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
Mr. Bowling was a native of Carter County and the son of the late 
Robert Bob and Bessie Scalf Bowling. He was also preceded in death 
by his wife, Margaret Adams Bowling, three brothers, Frank, Glen and 
Clarence "Buddy" Bowling, and a sister, Florence Fortner. 
Mr. Bowling attended Moore's Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and was 
a retired employee of North American Rayon Corporation. 
Survivors include two brothers, Elmer Bowling and Roy Bowling, both 
of Elizabethton; a sister, Juanita Sheppard, Elizabethton; and special 
friends, John Presnell and Family. Several nieces and nephews also 
survive. 
Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, January 5, in the 
Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home with Pastor Clarence Phillips 
and the Rev. Bobby Stout officiating. The family will receive friends 
at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, prior to the service. 
Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 
6, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Danny 
Sheppard, David Sheppard, Dean Bowling, Ronnie Bowling, Dale Bowling, 
Jackie Bowling, Terry Bowling and Glen Bowling Jr. Honorary pallbearers 
will be John Presnell and Howard Presnell. Those planning to attend the 
graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. 
Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery. Online condolences may be
