CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Edith Bowling, 4 Mar 2005 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Edith Bowling, 73, Ferguson Avenue, Elizabethton, died Friday, March 4, 2005, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital after a lingering illness. Mrs. Bowling was the daughter of the late Joseph Hampton and Ardie Heaton Brewer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Bowling, in 1978, a daughter, Diane Bennett, and by five brothers and three sisters. Mrs. Bowling was a homemaker and a member of East Side Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Glen Jr. and Pauletta Bowling, Elizabethton; a granddaughter, Kristi Bowling, Elizabethton; a grandson and his wife, Scott and Anna Hayes, Johnson City; two great-grandsons, Sean and Logan; two sisters, Delia Potter, Roan Mountain, and Aline Weber, Johnson City; a brother, Lester Brewer, Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Vivian Perry. Funeral services for Mrs. Bowling will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jim Storie officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel from 1 until 3 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service. Friends may also call at the residence at anytime. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral chapel at 2:55 p.m. Sunday, will be Glen Bowling Jr., Scott Hayes, Max Weber, Gary Sheffield, Anthony Buck, Johnny Blackburn, Kay Brewer and Doyle Brewer.
