Bradley 04/13/99 James A. "Jim" Bradley, 76, 711 West "E" Street, Elizabethton, died Monday, April 12, 1999, at the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Mountain Home following a short illness. Mr. Bradley was a native and lifelong resident of Carter County and a son of the late Alfred T. and Hattie Legg Bradley. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Webb Bradley, in 1979, and by three sisters. Mr. Bradley was a retired heavy equipment operator with the City of Elizabethton. He was an Army Veteran of World War II and a volunteer at the Veterans Hospital at Mountain Home. He was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church and a member of the Chancel Choir and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. Survivors include a son, Richard James Bradley, Elizabethton; a daughter, Brenda Jones, Canton, Ga.; four sisters, Helen Jack, Elizabethton, Edna Perry, Tampa, Fla., Virginia Allen of Florida, and Verna McLain, Knoxville; a grandson, Wesley Bradley, Elizabethton; and two granddaughters, Erin Bradley, Elizabethton, and Jaimie Jones, Canton, Ga. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. BRADLEY -- Funeral services for James A. "Jim" Bradley, 76, 711 West "E" Street, Elizabethton, who died Monday, will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, with Rev. Ken LaDuke and Rev. Bill Carter officiating. Music will be by the Chancel Choir of First United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Last Supper section of Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Paul Hodge, Phil Vandeventer, Dave Wortman, Bill Miller, Wesley Bradley, Dean Perry, John L. Bowers and David Austin. Honorary pallbearers will be the Chancel Choir and the Fellowship Class of First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Choir Fund, First United Methodist Church, 323 East "E" Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service. Friends may call at the residence any time. The family, friends, ministers and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral chapel at 10:30 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
