Brewer 05/05/99 Garfield William Brewer, 73, 146 Nanny Goat Hill, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, May 4, 1999, at Life Care Center of Elizabethton. Mr. Brewer was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Dow and Maude Stewart Brewer. He was also preceded in death by a sister and three brothers. Mr. Brewer was retired from the U.S. Army, having served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He also retired from North American Rayon Corporation. He was a member of Valley Forge Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, Mary Hampton Brewer, Life Care Center of Elizabethton; a son, Anthony Brewer, Elizabethton; and a brother, Carl Brewer, Bluff City. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. BREWER -- Graveside services and interment for Garfield William Brewer, 73, 146 Nanny Goat Hill, Elizabethton, who died Tuesday, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Chaplain Michael Belue and Mr. H. Clay Bailey officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home. Pallbearers and the Honor Guard will be provided by the Military Detail from Fort Campbell, Ky. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Thursday to go to the cemetery. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
