Brewer 1/17/00 Mrs. Mary Evelyn Brewer, 71, 146 Nanny Goat Hill, Elizabethton, died Sunday, January 16, 2000, at Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Brewer was a native of Carter County and a daughter of the late Ed C. and Sarah Annie Simerly Hampton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Garfield W. Brewer, May 4, 1999, a son, Anthony Lynn Brewer, October 5, 1999, and a brother, Dewey A. Hampton. Mrs. Brewer was a member of the Valley Forge Christian Church. Survivors include two brothers, David H. Hampton Sr. and Harold Hampton, both of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. BREWER -- Graveside services for Mrs. Mary Evelyn Brewer, 71, 146 Nanny Goat Hill, Elizabethton, who died Sunday, will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Mr. H. Clay Bailey, minister, officiating. Interment will follow the service. Active pallbearers will be David H. Hampton Jr., Daniel Gene Hampton, Glen Ray Simerly, Gene Mathes, William Hampton, Darrell Woods and Kevin Potter. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
