CARTER COUNTY, TN - OBITUARIES - Kate Oliver Briggs, 30 Nov 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Kate Oliver Briggs, 82, Nave Hollow Loop, Elizabethton, died Tuesday, November 30, 2004, at her residence after a year-long battle with cancer. Mrs. Briggs was a native of Carter County and the daughter of the late Isaac and Gertie Bowers Oliver. Mrs. Briggs was a homemaker and a member of College Park Free Will Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Rev. Clate William Briggs Jr.; four step- children; a special step-daughter and her husband, Dolores and Jeff Moore, Johnson City; several step-grandchildren and a sweet little step-great- grandson, Will Moore; and two sisters, Mahalia Davis, Elizabethton, and Phyllis Andrews, Hickory, N.C. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, December 3, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Cleve Barnett and Rev. Dave Morgan officiating. Music will be provided by Cleve Barnett, Betty Barnett and Kathy Barnett. Interment will follow in the Wilson Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Terry Pierce, Glen Jessie, Aaron Bowers, Scott Buckles, Ronnie Verran, Danny Rash, Roy Ikerd and Michael Collins. Honorary pallbearers will be friends, neighbors and her church family, the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter No. 824 and their families, and all Carter County Nursing Homes, patients and staff.
