Died March 4th 1892. Age, 79 years, 4 months. When she was 12 years old her parents settled at Fairplay, this county, and lived there for a number of years. Her maiden name was RUST. She was married to Benjamin BROOKS, August 14, 1829. She was the mother of five children, all of whom are dead. Her oldest son, Alfred L. BROOKS, was the husband of Mrs. Emma BROOKS. Her husband died March 1st, 1840. For the first five years after her marriage she lived at Vincennes. Afterward removed to this place and lived here the rest of her life, about 60 years. She was for many years a member of the C. P. Church and lived a devoted Christian life. She was a kind neighbor and a loving mother. Was long an invalid and endured her affliction with patience and fortitude, “as seeing him who is invisible.” A few days ago when asked if she felt ready and willing to go she said: “Yes, I am ready. I’ll put it in Jesus’ hands.” We may confidently believe that she has entered into the “rest that remaineth unto the people of God.” And that she has realized the truth of the Apostle’s words, “that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that shall be revealed in us.” — NOTES—RLJ: 1850 US CENSUS OF GREENE COUNTY, Bloomfield, 18 Sep 1850, Page, Dwelling 514, Family 514, Lines 334—37: Eliza BROOKS (38, Widow, $300 RE, —), Alfred (18, Laborer, IN), Lucinda (14, IN), Finley (12, IN); (2) 1880 US CENSUS OF GREENE COUNTY, Bloomfield, 3 JUN 1880, Page 122A, Dwelling 50, Family 50, Lines 37—41: BROOKS, Eliza (68, Dressmaker, TN, GA, SC), Lucinda M.
